Seafoam Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern
The Seafoam Blanket is one of those patterns that you’ll want to make in several different colors. The repetitive comfort of making this corner to corner design is very soothing to do. Then add a pretty border to bring it all together for a stunning blanket.

This blanket is made in the double crochet stitch, along with the slip stitch and chains, which are all very basic stitches. If you’re new to these, I have provided a free video tutorial to guide you through the steps on how to make a rectangle in the corner to corner method below.
The border is also a fun one to make, made in the double crochet and single crochet stitch. I’ve made mine in the two colors, white and seafoam, but you could make it in several colors for a dramatic effect.
Using a size J/10, 6mm crochet hook and a #4 worsted weight yarn makes this design fly off your hook. You can use left over yarns to make a scrap blanket for this or use a variegated yarn like this sample.
Here’s an example of starting the blanket, showing how Rows 1 to 5 look at the start. This yarn changes colors quickly, giving it an interesting look.

Video tutorial:
This border does have a slight ruffle or drape to it. I think it adds to the beauty of the finished blanket.
I really enjoyed making this block stitch border, and have a wash cloth design using this stitch.
The wash cloth is made in rows and the stitch counts are different, and it’s a good way to learn the concept if you’re new to this stitch.
