Learn how to make these four main stitches as standing stitches in US terms in this video: single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), and treble crochet (tr).
You will make the basic stitch the same way as usual, except you will begin the row with it instead of a slip stitch and chain(s). It’s very simple to do and you will get the hang of it in no time at all. You can make this in any stitch, but I demonstrate these four main stitches in US terms only.
Tips:
- Refer to your pattern for stitch placement.
- Practice your tension by holding the beginning tail when you begin the standing stitches.
- The stitch is made the same as the regular stitch, this will replace the sl st and chain(s) to start a new row.
- A great stitch to use in granny squares when you change colors and start a new row.
