Corner To Corner C2C Velvet Cowl Free Crochet Pattern
The Corner To Corner C2C Velvet Cowl is a soft neck warmer to wear and to make. It’s a pleasure to crochet with the soft yarn in your hands while stitching this fun and easy pattern. Made with a bulky yarn, it works up quickly for a last minute project.

This easy cowl is made with the super soft velvet yarn and the double crochet stitch. Made in the corner-to-corner method, start with a rectangle, seam up the two ends together, and add an edge, and a button, if you like. I have a couple options for the edging, or make your own. That’s all there is to it!
C2C Velvet Cowl
Pattern Starts Here
Skill Level: Easy, with knowledge of C2C technique
Measurement: 30 inches around by 14 1/2 inches wide
Gauge: 4 rows and 4 dc clusters = 4 inches
Supplies:
Yarn: Bernat Velvet: Color – Softened Blue (1 skein)
Yardage needed: 230 -250 yards
Hook: 6.00 mm [US J / 10]
Stitch Marker: Qty (1)
Yarn needle
Button: Optional 1 inch

Solid skein: 315 yards / 288 meters
Unit Weight: 300 grams (10.5 ounces)
Fibers: 100% Polyester
Care: Hand wash cold, dry flat
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Special Stitches:
Cluster – Ch 3 and 3 dc in same space (1 cluster).
Notes:
- Worked in rows, turn after each row.
Instructions:
Leave a long tail for seaming.
Chain 6, tun.
Row 1 (RS): 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next 2 chs. (1 cluster).
Row 2 (WS): Ch 6, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next 2 chs, turn, sl st in next ch 3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-3 space. (2 clusters).
Row 3-12: Ch 6, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next 2 chs, turn, sl st in next ch 3 sp, *ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-3 space, sl st in next ch-3 space*, repeat *-* across. (15 clusters).
Note: 12 clusters in each Row (Rectangle) Start decreasing on one side only:
Row 13: Ch 3, turn, 1 sl st in ch 3 spc *ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-3 space, sl st in next ch-3 space*, repeat *-* across. (12 clusters).
Row 14: Ch 6, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next 2 chs, turn, sl st in next ch-3 sp, *ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-3 sp, sl st in next ch-3 sp*, repeat *-* across. (12 clusters).
Rows 15-28: Repeat Rows 13 & 14.
Note: Decreasing on both sides:
Row 29-38: Ch 3, turn, sl st in ch 3 sp, *ch 3, 3 dc in same ch 3 space, sl st in next ch 3 space*, repeat *-* across, ending with sl st to last ch 3 space. (12-2 clusters).
Row 39: Ch 3, turn, sl st in ch 3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch 3 space, sl st in last ch 3 space, ch 3, turn, sl st in top ch 3 space. Drop loop off hook, place stitch marker in loop. Do not end off yarn.
SEAMING:
Note: Work along both edges, join to make fabric into a circle.
Using long tail from beginning of cowl, thread on yarn needle, fold fabric in half lengthwise, whip stitch two ends together.
EDGING:
Note: Do not turn work, take out stitch marker, place loop back on hook.
Round 41: Ch 1, *3 sc in the end of each ch-3 sp across*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to beginning sc.
Note: Row 42 – Work across top of cowl. Make Ch-5 loops.
Round 42: *Ch 5, sl st in same st, sl st in next 2 sts*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to beginning ch 5. End off yarn, weave in end.
Opposite side of cowl: with sl st on hook, attach to any stitch, repeat Rows 41 and 42.
Finishing:
Option 1: Leave loops as is.
Option 2:
Use the ch-5 loops, work with 2 loops at a time, pull 2nd loop up the center of the 1st loop, then take the 3rd loop and pull up the center of the 2nd loop, repeat around until all loops are worked. Sew on button near top of first cluster.

In the sample shown below, I left one edge of the loops as is. I didn’t weave them around, like shown on the top edge. There are several ways to finish the edging using these loops.
