Color Block Washcloth – Free Crochet Pattern
The Color Block Washcloth is an easy, quick crochet pattern that lets the color make the design. It’s a fun and trending design that you will love to make for all your family and friends.

These would be a great item for craft fairs or boutiques. They don’t take much yarn or much time to whip them up. I really enjoyed making these, and would also be a very nice gift.
I used Paintbox Cotton DK yarn for this project. It is a light #3 weight yarn, and is a dream to work with. The colors are so beautiful, it is so hard to choose just a couple. The yarn is shown here with another angel stitch marker, I’ve been making them a lot lately. You can make some too, I have a video to show you how.

Measurements: 7” wide x 7 ½” long
Supplies:
Yarn: Paintbox Cotton DK
Color A – Ballet Pink #453 (32 yards)
Color B – Slate Grey #406 (32 yards)
Hook: 4.0 mm [US G]
Yarn needle
Yarn Information:
Light #3 weight, 50 g / 1.7 oz, 125 m / 137 yd, 100% cotton
Gauge: 5 ½ clusters x 7 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations:
beg – beginning
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Special Stitches:
2 Double Crochet Cluster V-stitch (cluster): yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull through st , yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, *yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull through st, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook*, yo, pull through 3 loops on hook, ch 1, repeat *-* 2 times, yo pull through 3 loops on hook. (1 cluster made).
sdc – Standing Double Crochet: with slip knot on hook, yo, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, 3 loops on hook, [yo, pull through 2 loops on hook] 2x.
Notes:
- Ch 3 counts as a double crochet.
- Stitch counts are in brackets ( ) at the end of the Rows.
- Written in US terminology.
Instructions:
Color A (pink) – Ch 33
Row 1: Cluster in 6th ch from hook (skipped 5 chs count as 1 dc and 2 skipped chs), * cluster in next ch, skip 2 chs, repeat from *, end with dc in last ch. (9 clusters, 2 dc).
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, cluster in each ch-1 sp across, end with dc in top of ch-3. (9 clusters, 2 dc).
Row 3-6: Repeat Row 2. (9 clusters, 2 dc).
Row 7: Ch 1, turn, *3 hdc in next ch-1 sp, repeat from *, end with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (27 hdc). End off yarn.
Note:
- Turn work upside down to work into the opposite side of the beginning Ch 33.
Color B (grey)
Row 8: sdc in 1st ch, *skip 2 chs, cluster in next ch, repeat from *, end with skip 2 chs, dc in next ch. (9 clusters, 2 dc).
Rows 9-13: Repeat Row 2. (9 clusters, 2 dc).
Row 14: Repeat Row 7. (27 hdc). End off yarn, weave in all ends
