Tips:
Beads – You don’t want your stitch marker to be too heavy when it is complete. If it is, it may pull on your stitches and damage your knit or crochet project. Keep this in mind when selecting your beads. I chose a very light weight plastic bead for the larger, colorful ones, and also for the Alphabet beads. The silver flowers are metal, but very small, so they don’t add too much weight.
Lobster Clasp – The Lobster clasp is on the larger size, which adds most of the weight to these. But I personally like the bigger size so that I can use one hand to attach it or move it while I’m crafting.
Straight Pins – The Pins are very hard to bend, so you may have to work at getting it to wrapped around the base of the clasp. If you use your fingers to try to wrap it, be careful not to cut or puncture your finger with the Pin end, using the pliers is a lifesaver for me.
Pliers – I like to use a variety of pliers to accomplish the finished look, a rounded plier and a flat plier.
Supplies:
You will need the following supplies:
Straight Pins – 1 1/2 – 2 inches in length.
Lobster Clasps – 28 mm
Beads – any lightweight beads of your choice.
Pliers – Rounded, Flat (regular).
These stitch markers measure approximately 2 inches in length when completed.
How To Make Stitch Markers:
Step 1: String or slide the beads onto the straight pin. Leave about 1/2 inch open at the top of your pin.
Step 2: Using the Rounded Pliers, wrap the end of the open straight pin around the pliers to make a hook.
Step 3: Place the Lobster Clasp on the hook.
Step 4: Using the Regular Pliers, wrap the end of the straight Pin around the base of the Lobster Clasp to secure it and the beads in place.
