Loop It Cowl – Free Pattern
The Loop It Cowl is a beautiful addition to your wardrobe and is a new free pattern using your fingers! The Loops are already in the skein of yarn for you. This is a great way to introduce someone to get their hands on some yarn, no crochet hook or knitting needles are required to make this. It’s super soft and thick, which makes a beautiful design.

The end result of using this finger yarn in this tubular cowl resembles a knit stitch, it makes rows of V-stitches. It’s fun to use your fingers and allows you to really get your hands on the yarn! No crochet hook or knitting needles are required to make this. There’s not much counting, once you start your base Round, so it’s easy and very relaxing to make.

The Loop-It Yarn by Red Heart Yarns is really fun to work with. The Loops are already in the skein of yarn and it comes in several colors and variegated options. I chose the variegated pink, purple, and white color and love the way it turned out.
I used almost all of two skeins to make this cowl. You can make it longer or shorter, it’s up to you. I made it as a tubular cowl, so it’s extra thick and warm. I have a video to show you how I made this and I hope it helps you make one of your own. Let’s get started!

Notes:
- Cowl is worked in the Round
- Right Side facing throughout.
- Use your beginning tail as a marker for counting the number of Rounds.
- Putting the working Loop through the center of the next Loop creates a V-stitch.
COWL:
Lay 14 loops out straight, then form them into a circle.
Round 1: Working from Right to Left, bring Loop 15 through the center of Loop 1, back-to-front. Next, bring Loop 16 through the center of Loop 2, back-to-front. *Work the next Loop from your working yarn, through the center of the next Loop on your cowl, back-to-front, in the Round*.
Rounds 2 – 52: Repeat *-* of Row 1, until desired length.
BINDING OFF & FINISHING:
Lay the cowl out with the two ends facing each other, careful not to twist the cowl.
Cut a 24 inch tail by cutting the loops open carefully.
Weave the tail under 1 V-stitch of Round 1, then bring the tail back-to-front of the next live Loop, *weave the tail under the next V-stitch of Round 1, then bring the tail back-to-front of the next live Loop*, repeat *-* around until all the Loops have been woven into Round 1.
End off yarn, weave in end.
End of Pattern.
