Hygge Home Throw – Free Tunisian Crochet Pattern
The Hygge Home Throw is a favorite blanket at our house because it’s so soft and warm. This is made using Tunisian Crochet stitches and is a good way to learn new stitches while repeating the design. This blanket features the basket weave stitch, which results in a beautiful fabric. It’s easy to make, but looks difficult.

When my sister and her family moved recently, I wanted to make them a handmade blanket as a house warming gift for their new home. She said she wanted a navy blue blanket, so I had a starting point to work off of. I added a stripe of off-white to break up the pattern and I love the way it turned out.
I decided to make the stripes in the Tunisian Cross Stitch. I have a video tutorial for this stitch. For this design, you will not have an even amount of stitch to complete the x-sts, so on the last two stitches of the row, you will make a Tunisian Simple Stitch instead. You can see in the photo below the far left-hand side, the two tss.
This main areas in blue are made in the Tunisian Basket Weave Stitch. I love the rows of boxes that it makes. If you’re new to this stitch I have a video to show you how to make this stitch too.
When we went on a mini vacation and I took this project with us. I love to sit in the back of the car and crochet away. I made good progress on it and it was nice and warm over my legs once we arrived at our destination.

Here is the finished blanket. It is long and narrow. My brother-in-law is tall, so I wanted it to cover him comfortably.
This uses the Tunisian Basket Weave Stitch, see Video Here
