Flower Pop Granny Square Blanket
The Flower Pop Granny Square Blanket is very versatile and full of popcorns. These six inch beauties are fun and fast to make and are a great way to use up leftover yarn. Mix and match your squares or plan them all out with coordinated colors. The front and the back look completely different and will really surprise you.

I had a lot of yarn left over from other projects and wanted to use it up to make room for new yarn! Although I did buy more of the Soft White and Buff colors that I used on each square.
I’ve been making a lot of granny squares lately! I have a few more coming this year and I forgot how much I love to make these! It was fun to get back to granny squares after making hats, garments and scarves lately.

I especially enjoy making the join-as-you-go method of granny squares. That is where you complete your last round and attach it to the adjacent squares at the same time. The center flower shown below is probably my favorite part of the blanket!
But then I see those popcorn stitches, wow. Then those become my favorite part of the blanket. Oh well, I can’t decide, I love it all.
You can make all your squares first making Rounds 1-5 for each square. Then arrange them in the order you want them, and complete the last Round 6 and the join-as-you-go method at the same time. I didn’t do that at first and wish I had. But it still came out beautiful. I made 60 squares and attached them with 6 squares in each Row for the width, and made 10 Rows for the length.

Here is a chart for the square placement and when to join on one side, and on two sides. Follow the legend in pink and turquoise. You can add more squares to make a bigger blanket, or less for a smaller one.
I kept the border of the blanket very simple. Originally I had planned a different edging, but once I tried it, I didn’t like it, so I went with this one instead. It reminds me of the ric-rac ribbon that we used to sew onto clothing.
