Dazzle Berry Ear Warmer – Free Crochet Pattern
The Dazzle Berry Ear Warmer is a such a fun fabric to make, full of little bumps. The raised texture adds to the beauty of the headband, or ear warmer. Includes a video on the crochet stitch if you’re new to it, and also on how to sew the twist so the seam becomes a decorative focal point.

This pattern is written in three sizes and is a fun addition to your outfit. Plus you can wear a ponytail or a bun while wearing it.
This stitch makes raised little bumps or berries alternating throughout this ear warmer design.
An ear warmer is great for those that don’t like a hat, but need extra warmth around their head, protecting your ears from wind and cold.

Hook: J/10 – 6.00 mm
Yarn needle
Yarn
Big Twist, 100% Acrylic, 170g/6oz, 347m/380yds, #4 Medium Worsted Weight
Colors- Medium Grey 85 yards; Cornflower Blue 95 yards; Camel 115 yards
Gauge
12 rows X 12 sts = 4 inches
Abbreviations in US Terminology
beg – beginning
ch(s) – chain(s)
RS – right side
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
General Notes
1. Pattern is written in US terminology.
2. First worked in rows, then seamed.
3. Stitch counts are in brackets ( ) at the end of rows, in order of sizes, S, M, L.
4. Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
5. Alternate the berry stitch every other row, a four row repeat.
6. Size Small = Ch 12, Medium = Ch 14, Large = Ch 16.
7. Stitch multiple = any odd # + 1 chain.
Special Stitch
Berry Stitch (bst) – insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull through, chain 3, yo, pull through both loops on hook.
Instructions
Ch 12 (14,16)
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook (counts as 1 sc), sc in each ch across. (11, 13, 15 sc).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in next 2 sts, *bst in next st, sc in next st*, repeat *-* across end with sc in last 2 sts. (S= 4 bst, 7 sc; M= 5 bst, 8 sc; L= 6 bst, 9 sc).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (11, 13, 15 sc).
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in next st, *bst in next st, sc in next st*, repeat *-* across end with sc in last st. (S= 5 bst, 6 sc; M= 6 bst, 7 sc; L= 7 bst, 8 sc).
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (11, 13, 15 sc).
Rows 6-53(57,61): Repeat Rows 2-5. End last row on a row 5.
End off yarn, leave a long tail for seaming.
SEAM
Lay fabric out flat with RS facing up. Fold each end towards the center of the fabric. Then fold one end in half and next, fold the other end in half. Slide the two folded ends together and even out the stitches. It should have four edges lined up. Using the long tail from above, thread it on the yarn needle and sew the four edges together.
