Simple Cowl – Free Crochet Pattern
A soft and beautiful neck warmer that works up quickly using a bulky yarn, a large hook, and a simple Granny Stitch. This Simple Cowl is easy for a beginner with beautiful results. Add some fur pom-poms for that modern and fun look.

The yarn used in this cowl is not your typical yarn, it is thick and thin in thickness. This gives the cowl a lot of texture and interest without having to make a difficult stitch. This cowl also looks great in a regular bulky yarn as well.
Skill Level: Easy
Size: One size fits most.
Measurements: 12 inches long by 17 inches wide.

Yarn: Buttercream Thick & Thin: Color – Purple
Yarn needed: 184 yards (2 skeins)
Hook: 10.00 mm (US / N-P)

Fiber: 52% Wool, 48% Acrylic
Gauge: 3 rows and 3 dc clusters plus 2 ch 1 sps = 4 inches
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
fsc – foundation single crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Special Stitches & Placement:
Cluster: 3 dc in ch 1 space from previous row.

Instructions:
Multiple 3
Round 1: Fsc 42, sl st to beginning fsc to form a ring (42 fsc). Using the tail, join the bottom edge gap together by weaving it through a couple of stitches on the opposite side.
OR
Alternate Round 1: Ch 42, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, ending with sl st to beginning sc. (42 sc).
Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, *ch 1, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st,* repeat *-* around, ending with ch 1, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (14 ch 1 sps, 14 dc clusters).
Round 3: 1 sl st in next 3 sts to ch 1 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp; *ch 1, 3 dc in next sp* repeat *-* around, ending with ch 1, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (14 ch 1 sps, 14 dc clusters).
Rounds 4-10: Repeat Row 3. (14 ch 1sps, 14 dc clusters).
Round 11: Ch 1, *1 sc in next 3 sts, sk ch 1 sp*, repeat *-* around, ending with 1 sl st to beginning sc. (42 sc).
Tie:
Make a chain approximately 36 inches long, end off yarn. Weave one end between each dc cluster in Row 10.
End off yarn. Weave in ends if not attaching pom-poms.
Pom-Poms: (optional)
Make 2 fur pom-poms, attach one to each end of the tie using the tails.
