Skill level: Intermediate
Size: 90″ long x 10″ wide (excludes fringe) 98″ long with fringe
Yarn: Red Heart Unforgettable – color Parrot – 3 skeins
Supplies: Yarn needle
Hook: 6.00 mm [US J-10]
Gauge: 14 sts and 5 rows = 4 inches
Stitch Abbreviations – US terms:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
tr – treble
Make one side, then attach yarn to the other end to make the other side. This way the ends of the scarf will have the same edges or points. Chain 3 counts as a stitch throughout.
I used approximately 2 1/2 skeins of yarn for this project. Side 1 and Side 2 don’t have to have the exact number of rows, for Side 2 I made less rows.
Pattern starts here: Side 1
Row 1 (RS): 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, *skip next 2 ch, 1 dc in next 7 ch, 3 dc in next ch, 1 dc in next 7 ch*, repeat *-* 1 more time; skip next 2 ch, 1 dc in next 3 ch. (40 dc).
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in next st, *skip next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 7 sts, 3 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 7 sts*, repeat *-* 1 more time; skip next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st. (40 dc).
Row 3-70: Repeat Row 2 for 68 rows, or desired length for side 1. End off yarn.
Row 1: (WS) Sl st yarn to the end of Side 1 Row 1. Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in next st; 1 sc in ch 2 space, *1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 tr in next 7 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in ch 2 space*, repeat *-* 1 more time; 1 sc in ch 2 space, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st.
Row 2: ch 3, turn, 1 dc in same sp, 1 dc in next st, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st *1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 tr in next 7 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts*, 1 sc in next 2 sts, repeat *-* 1 more time; 1 sc in next st, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in last st.
Row 3 – 55: Repeat Row 2 (from Side 1) for a total of 55 rows or until desired length.
Edging: work edging in sc throughout, in the round
Note: Repeat the same pattern repeat along the edges (points) in sc, and place sc sts evenly along the sides, approximately 2 sc in ends of each row.
Row 1: ch 1, turn, *repeat Row 2 (from Side 1) in sc to corner, turn, sc evenly along side to other end*, repeat *-* 1 more time. End off yarn, weave in ends.
The fringe is approximately 8 inches long. For How To Make Fringe Tutorial, click HERE.
