Boho Ornaments – Free Crochet Pattern
The Boho Ornaments are fun and festive for anytime of year. Make a few for a bunting, or make two of them, then stitch and stuff it for a 3D affect. It is a fun design and can be embellished with beads, ribbons, or a tassel. Hang some on your Christmas tree this year. Have fun with this one!

Skill Level: Intermediate
Measurements: 4.5 inches wide by 6 inches tall.
Supplies:
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, Worsted Weight #4 (3 colors)
- Color A – Hot Red – E300_390 (7.5 yards, excludes fringe)
- Color B – Spring Green – E300_672 (8 yards)
- Color C – White – E300_311 (9.5 yards)
Hook: 6.00 mm [US J]
Yarn needle
Gauge: measurements given at end of rounds, not crucial to finished item.
Abbreviations: In US Terms
- beg – beginning
- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- sc – single crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- sp(s) – space(s)
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- tr – treble crochet
Special Stitches & Placement:
3rd back loop – insert hook in horizontal bar behind the V of the stitch.
rsc – reverse single crochet: insert hook in previous st, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook. See Video: How To Make A Reverse Single Crochet Stitch.
sdc – standing double crochet: with slip knot on hook, yo, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, 3 loops on hook, [yo, pull through 2 loops on hook] 2x. See Video: Standing Crochet Stitches.
shdc – standing half double crochet: with slip knot on hook, yo, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, 3 loops on hook, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook. See Video: Standing Crochet Stitches.
ssc – standing single crochet: with slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, 2 loops on hook, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook. See Video: Standing Crochet Stitches.
str – standing treble: with slip knot on hook, yo 2x, insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, pull through, 4 loops on hook, [yo, pull through 2 loops on hook] 3x. See Video: Standing Crochet Stitches.
Notes:
- Stitch counts are in parenthesis ( ) at the end of rounds.
- Pattern repeats are in brackets [ ] at the end of rounds, where applicable.
- Repeat between *-*, then repeat *-** where applicable.
Instructions:
Color A (red) – Place slip knot on hook.
Round 1: ch 4 (counts as 1 dc and 1 ch), 11 dc in first ch, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. End off yarn.

Note: Round 2 is worked between the dc sts of Round 1 to make the sts spread apart.
Color B (green) – Place slip knot on hook.
Round 2: sdc between any 2 sts, 1 dc in same sp, *2 dc in next sp*, repeat *-* around, join with sl st to top of sdc. End off yarn. Measures 3”.

Color A (red) – Place slip knot on hook.
Round 3: shdc in any st, 2 hdc in next st, *1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st*, repeat *-* around, join with sl st to top of shdc. End off yarn. Measures 4”.
(36 hdc)
Pattern Repeat: [1 hdc, 2 hdc]
Notes:
- Round 4 turns the circle into an oval shape.
- Option to work all the sts in 3rd back loop in this Round, or through the top of the sts, it’s up to you.
Color C (white) – Place slip knot on hook.
Round 4: see Note #2 above for st placement – str in any st, 1 tr in next st, *1 dc in same st, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, 1 sc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next 4 sts, 1 dc in next 3 sts, 1 tr in same st**, 1 tr in next 2 sts*, repeat *-** around, end with st st to top of str. Measures 6” long x 4.5” at center – widest point.
(20 sts each side, 40 total sts in round) 3 tr, 6 dc, 8 hdc, 3 sc on each side.
Pattern repeat: [ tr, [1tr, 1dc] in next st, 2 dc, 4 hdc, 3 sc, 4 hdc, 2 dc, [1dc, 1tr] in next st]
Round 5: sc in next 19 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 20 sts, ch 10, sl st to beg sc. End off yarn.
Measures 6” long x 4.5” at center – widest point.
(41 sc, 10-chs)
Pattern repeat: [19 sc, 2 sc, 20 sc, ch-10]
Color B (green) – place slip knot on your hook
Round 6: attach yarn with a sl st to sc before ch-10 (see photo 1 below), 1 rsc in back loop of each st around, sl st to beg sc, working around ch-10 loop.
End off yarn, weave in all ends.
Measures 6.5” long x 5.0” at center – widest point.

Add beads, fringe tassel, ribbons, or surface crochet to your ornament.
