You’re A Star Baby Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern
You’re A Star Baby Blanket is the first in my collection of Star Stitches. I fell in love with this stitch and couldn’t stop making them. I love the way they look with the circular shape, they are mesmerizing. This design creates a solid blanket that is warm and cuddly for your bundle of joy. It is easy to customize, keeping the color block theme, making it a solid color, or changing the width of your stripes. The sky is the limit to make it your own. Here we go…

You’re A Star Baby Blanket
For best results, please read through the entire pattern before starting.
Add this to your Ravelry Library:
Skill Level: Intermediate
Measurements: 36 inches long by 28 inches wide.
Supplies:
Yarn: Caron One Pound, WW #4
Color A – White (1 skein) 325 yards
Color B – Lilac (1 skein) 270 yards
Color C – Peach (1 skein) 150 yards
Hook: 6.00 mm [US J-10] Yarn needle
Gauge: 3 1/2 rows and 7 star stitches = 4 inches
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
RS – right side
WS – wrong side
Special Stitches & Placement:
Star Stitch:
Row 1: Ch 3 loosely, turn, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up a loop, insert in next ch, yo, pull up a loop, insert in first st of previous row, yo, pull up a loop, [insert in next st of previous row, yo, pull up a loop] 2 x, (6 loops on hook), yo pull through all loops on hook, ch 1.
Insert hook into ch 1 (just made), yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into last st (of previous star stitch) yo, pull up a loop, insert hook into base of previous start stitch, yo, pull up a loop, [insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop] 2x, (6 loops on hook), yo, pull through all loops on hook, ch 1.
Row 2: 1 hdc in center ch 1 sp of previous row star stitch, *2 hdc in next center ch 1 sp*, repeat across.
Work Rows 1-2 to make one complete star stitch.
Blanket Notes:
1. First Row of the Star Stitch is worked in the third back loops throughout.
2. Work all even Rows (RS) in third back loop, work all odd Rows (WS) in front Loops
3. Ch 2 counts as a stitch throughout.
4. Rows in Red text are the repeat rows to easily identify them.
5. Stitch counts are in ( ) at the end of the rows.
Pattern Starts Here
Instructions:
Color A (White) – Ch 81
Row 1: (WS) Starting in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each ch across. (80 hdc).
Row 2: (RS) Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in third back loop, in each st across. (80 hdc).
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in front loop, in each st across. (80 hdc).
Round 4-8: Repeat Rows 2-3. End off yarn.
Color B (Lilac) – Star Stitch
Row 9: Repeat Row 3.
Row 10: Ch 3, turn, star stitch in third back loops across. (40 star stitches).
Row 11: Ch 1, turn, 1 hdc in same sp, *2 hdc in center of next star stitch*, repeat *-* across, ending with 1 hdc in top of ch 3. (80 hdc).
Row 12-19: Repeat Rows 10-11.
Color A (White) –
Row 20-26: Repeat Rows 2-3.
Color C (Peach) – Star Stitch
Row 27: Repeat Row 3
Row 28-37: Repeat Rows 10-11.
Color A (White) –
Row 38-44: Repeat Rows 2-3.
Color B (Lilac) – Star Stitch
Row 45: Repeat Row 3
Rows 46-55: Repeat Rows 10-11.
Color A (White) –
Rows 56-63: Repeat Rows 2-3. Do not end off yarn.
Border Notes:
1. Attach new color to the RS of blanket.
2. Work around the entire perimeter of the blanket.
3. Round 3 corner stitches – [1 sc in next st, ch 1] 3 x. Do not skip a stitch between sc stitches for corners.
Border: Continuing with Color A (White) –
Rounds 1-2: Ch 1, sc evenly around blanket working 3 sc in each corner, ending with sl st to beginning sc. End off yarn.
Color C (Peach) – attach to RS
Round 3: Sl st to any sc st, ch 2, *skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 1*, repeat *-* to corner, then work corner as [1 sc in next st, ch 1] 3 x. Repeat *-* and corners around perimeter, ending with sl st to beginning ch 2. End off yarn.
Color B (Lilac) – attach to RS
Round 4: Sl st to any ch 1 sp, ch 2, *1 sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1*, repeat *-* around perimeter, ending with sl st to beginning ch 2. End off yarn.
Color A (White) – attach to RS
Round 5: Sl st to any ch 1 sp, *2 sc in each ch 1 sp*, around perimeter, repeat *-* ending with sl st to beginning sc.
End off yarn, weave in ends.
