Mini-Mystery Crochet Along 2020
The Mini-Mystery Crochet Along is a quick project and uses small amounts of yarn. The fun part of it is you won’t know what you’re making until the end. There are no finished photos along the way. I hope you’ll join us for this fun and adventurous event! The project is small and you’ll probably want to make a bunch of them.

This pattern was part of the Mini-Mystery Crochet Alongs, hosted by A Crocheted Simplicity. You can read the Information Guide in this blog post HERE. You’ll find all the important MMCAL info and FAQ’s!
Hints before we get started:
Colors: Can be made in two colors or a solid. If solid color, then approximately 20 yards. If two colors, then 13 yards of one, and 3-5 yards of another.
This begins with a very small section of Tunisian Simple Stitch. You can use a regular crochet hook, one that does NOT have a cushioned thumb area is best though.
If you’re new to Tunisian Simple Stitch, I have a video tutorial on it, click HERE.
Gauge: The gauge is not given, but I have a measurement at the end of Row 7, it’s not crucial to the finished item.
Edging: There will be two options to choose from to make the edging.

Start with Round 9 and if your stitches aren’t working out count how many Tss rows you have, and adjust your sc sts as in Examples 3 & 4 under Notes. I noticed in a few photos that some hearts may have more or less than 6 rows in the Tss Section, but it was hard to tell for sure. To accommodate that, I have some alterations in the Notes that I hope will help.
Notes:
1)Work in the round, going all the way around the outside edge of heart. With RS facing, work towards bottom point, then up along other side towards top, across the heart shape, then back to the beginning st.
2) If you don’t have the right amount of sts in the tss section, adjust your beg 6 sc sts to the number of rows you have in tss, and then again on the other side of the tss edge, adjust your 8 sc sts (6 sc are for the tss section, 2 sc go in the crochet section).
3)Example: if you have 5 tss rows, place 5 sc, 2 sc in bottom, 5 sc then continue with pattern: 2 sc, 2 hdc, etc.
4)Example: If you have 7 tss rows, place 7 sc, 2 sc in bottom, 7 sc then continue with pattern: 2 sc, 2 hdc, etc.
Round 9: (RS) Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st (at bottom point), 1 sc in next 6 sts (see Notes above), 1 sc in next 2 sts, *2 hdc in next st, 2 dc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st*, 1 sc in next st, sl st in next st, 1 sc in next, repeat *-*, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sl st to beg sc. (18 sc, 12 dc, 8 hdc, 2 sl st).
Edging Section
Before you end off your yarn, choose 1 of the 2 Edging options.
OPTION 1 – Reverse Single Crochet – See Video
End off Color (A), add Color (B).
Round 10: (RS) With slip knot on hook, sl st to any st, ch 1, 1 rsc in each st around, join with sl st to beg rsc. (42 rsc).
OR
OPTION 2 – Two Color Chain Loop Edging – See Video
Do NOT end off Color (A), add Color (B).
Round 10: (RS) Color (A) ch 5, drop loop off hook. Add Color (B) in next st with sl st, ch 5, drop loop off hook, push ch to back, *Color (A): pick up loop onto hook, sl st in next st, ch 5, drop loop off hook, push ch to back. Color (B): pick up loop onto hook, sl st in next st, ch 5, drop loop off hook, push ch to back*, Repeat *-* around to last 2 loops.
To End last 2 loops: – See Video
Color A – Sl st into the base of the first ch 5 st of Color A st.
Color B – Sl st into base of the first ch 5 st of Color B.
(42 ch 5 loops – 21 of each Color).
End off, weave in ends.
End of Pattern.
