This is a beginner pattern using knit and purl stitches, and it’s a reversible fabric. Great way to practice your knitting and make something at the same time.

Knit Mug Rug
Skill Level: Easy
Gauge: 9 sts x 10 rows = 2 inches
Measurement: 5″W x 6″L
Supplies:
Needles: US 8 / 5 mm
Yarn: Sugar’n Cream in the color Overcast
Yarn Label Information:
#4 worsted weight yarn; 100% Cotton
Skein = 190 yards / 174 m; 4 oz / 113 g
Abbreviations:
st(s) – stitch(es)
Pattern Repeat:
*Knit 2 sts, purl 2 sts, repeat from * across.
Notes:
- Worked in Rows only.
INSTRUCTIONS
Multiple 4 + 2
Cast on 22.
Row 1: *Knit 2 sts, Purl 2 sts, repeat from * across (22 sts).
Rows 2-30: Repeat Row 1 until fabric measures 6 inches, or desired length.
Bind off in pattern repeat across. End off yarn, weave in all ends.
Fringe
Cut 24 pieces of yarn, approximately 2 inches in length. Separate two pieces of yarn for each set of fringe. Evenly place six sets of fringe along both ends.
