Floral Hand Towel – Free Crochet Pattern
The Floral Hand Towel is a fun project and looks great in so many different color combinations such as variegated, solids, multi-colored, or a mixture of both variegated and multi-colored yarns.

Hints before we get started:
Colors: This item can be made in the 3 colors as written with the main color in a neutral with 2 pops of color, and it would also look good in a solid color as well.
Gauge: The gauge is given, but it’s not crucial to the finished item as long as you’re within an inch or so.
Materials: The button is optional or you can use some of the left over yarn.
Stitch Counts/Placement: Please count your stitches after each row in the first Section, and I’ve included stitch counts for you to confirm with. For a few stitches, you’ll be working into the chains from the previous row in Rows 6, 7 and 8.
Pattern Starts Here
Skill Level: Intermediate
Size: 8.75” wide x 17” long
Materials:
Yarn: Lily Sugar’N Cream
White – Color A: – 120 yds
Pink – Color B: – 5 yds
Turquoise – Color C: – 14 yards
Button (1 optional) – 1 inch
Hook: H/US (5.00 mm)

Yardage: Solids: 120 yd (109 m) 2.5 oz (70.9 g) ball
Yarn Weight: 4 – Medium
Fiber: 100% Cotton
Care: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, dry flat. Do not dry clean.
Gauge: 13 hdc x 11 rows = 4 inches.
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch(s) – chain(s)
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
sp – space
sts – stitches
yo – yarn over
Special Stitches:
2hdctog – 2 half double crochet together: (yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop), 2 times; yo, pull through all 5 loops on hook. (1 2hdctog).
3hdctog – 3 half double crochet together: (yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop), 3 times; yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook. (1 3hdctog).
Notes:
1. Worked in Rows, turn after each row.
2. Chain 1 at beginning of row does Not count as a stitch.
3. Chain 3 at beginning of row Does count as a stitch.
4. End off previous Color when changing to new color at the end of the row.
5. Weave in the ends as you go.
Instructions:
Using H hook-
Color A:
Ch 27
Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 1 st), 1 hdc in next ch and in each ch across. (25 hdc).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. Change to Color B on last yo of Row 2, end off Color A. (25 hdc).
Color B:
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st across. Change to Color C on last yo of Row 3, end off Color B. (25 sc).
Color C:
Row 4: Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 5 sts, ch 3, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next 11 sts, ch 3, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next 6 sts. (23 dc, 2 ch-3 sps).
Row 5: Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 3 sts, *ch 3, 1 sc in ch-3 sp, ch 3, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next 7 sts*; repeat *-*, end with 1 dc in next 4 sts. (15 dc, 4 ch-3 sps, 2 sc).
Row 6: Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next st, *ch 3, skip 4 sts, 1 sc in ch, 1 sc in sc, 1 sc in next ch, ch 3, skip 4 sts, 1 dc in next 3 sts*, repeat *-*, end with 1 dc in next 2 sts. (7 dc, 6 sc, 4 ch-3 sps).
Row 7: Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 3 sts, *ch 3, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next 7 sts*, repeat *-*, end with 1 dc in next 4 sts. (15 dc, 4 ch-3 sps, 2 sc).
Row 8: Ch 3, turn (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in next 5 sts, *ch 1, skip 3 sts, 1 dc in next 11 sts *, repeat *-*, end with 1 dc in next 6 sts. Change to Color B on last yo of Row 8, end off Color C. (23 dc, 2 ch-1 sps).
Color B:
Row 9: Repeat Row 3. Change to Color A on last yo of Row 9, end off Color B. (25 sc).
Color A:
Rows 10-26: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. Change to Color B on last yo of Row 26, end off Color A. (25 hdc).
Color B:
Row 27: Ch 1, turn, (does Not count as st), 1 sc in each st across. Change to Color A on last yo of Row 27, end off Color B. (25 sc).
Color A:
Row 28: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (25 hdc).
Row 29: Ch 1, turn, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 6 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 6 sts, 2hdctog. (17 hdc, 4-2hdctog).
Row 30: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (21 hdc).
Row 31: Ch 1, turn, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 2hdctog. (13 hdc, 4-2hdctog).
Row 32: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (17 hdc).
Row 33: Ch 1, turn, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdctog. (9 hdc, 4-2hdctog).
Row 34: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (13 hdc)
Note: Place a stitch marker around 7th hdc of Row 34.
Row 35: Ch 1, turn, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next st, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdctog. (5 hdc, 4-2hdctog).
Row 36: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (9 hdc).
Row 37: Ch 1, turn, 2hdctog, 1 hdc in next st, 1 3hdctog, 1 hdc in next st, 2hdctog. (2 hdc, 2-2hdctog, 1-3hdctog).
Rows 38-47: Ch 1, turn (does Not count as st), 1 hdc in each st across. (5 hdc).
Row 48: Ch 4, turn, (counts as 1 dc, ch 1), *1 dc in next st, ch 1*, repeat across, end with 1 dc in last st. (6 dc, 5 ch-1 sps). Continue to edging, do Not end off yarn.
EDGING
Notes:
1. Continue with Color A: begin Round 49 working across the dcs & ch-1 sps from Row 48.
2. Work around the entire fabric for Round 49 only.
3. Stitch placement on sides: place 1 sc in edge of hdc and sc rows, place 2 sc in edge of dc rows.
4. Work across 10 sts for Row 50.
Round 49: Ch 1, turn, *1 sc in each st across, 3 sc in corner, 1 sc in edge of each hdc and sc row, 2 sc in edge of each dc row, 1 sc in edge of each sc and hdc row, 3 sc in corner*, repeat *-* around, end with 2 sc in last st, sl st to beginning sc. End off Color A.
Color C: Work across bottom 10 sts of Round 49
Row 50: Turn, with slip knot on your hook, attach yarn with sl st to corner, ch 1, 1 sc in same st and in next 9 sts. (10 sc).
End off yarn, weave in ends.
FINISHING
Sew on a 1” button of your choice, or add a bow, or fringe.
Button: Attach button at Row 34, 7th stitch. Fold the top over and put the button through the center opening, between the 3rd and 4th dcs.
Bow (optional): Cut 6 strands of yarn in Color of your choice, 18 inches in length. At Row 34, between 5th & 6th sts, pull one end of yarn through going from front to back, skip 2 sts, between 8th & 9th sts pull other end of yarn from back to front. With both ends on the front side, make strands even, tie in a knot. Fold top piece over, pull one end of yarn through Row 48, 2nd sp, and the other end through Row 48, 4th sp. Make a bow.
Fringe (optional): Make fringe in Color of your choice, and attach to the bottom.
