How To Crochet The Crunch Stitch

In this video tutorial I’ll show you how to crochet the Crunch Stitch. This makes a dense, thick fabric perfect for blankets, hats and ear warmers.

This stitch can be made with any size yarn and corresponding crochet hook. If the yarn is lighter weight, it will result in a smaller fabric, and if it is a bulky weight, it will result in a larger fabric.

Skill Level: Easy
Supplies:
Red Heart With Love, color Lettuce
Furls Crochet Hook: US H/8, 5.00 mm
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Yarn needle
Abbreviations & Stitches used: In US Terminology
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
TIPS:
- Can be made in any size yarn weight for different projects.
- Made in Rows, turn after each row.
- Begin and end each Row with the same stitch (ex: a hdc).
- Place a stitch marker at the beginning of each Row to mark that stitch to work into as last stitch on your next Row.
- Work the hdc in the previous Row sl st, and work the sl st in the previous Row hdc.
