Broomstick Lace
This stitch uses a knitting needle and a crochet hook to make it. It is also known as the peacock stitch or jiffy lace and has been around for a long time. A broomstick handle was used in the past, which is where this name stems from.
In this crochet video tutorial, you will learn the foundations single crochet, how to pick up your stitches, and how to crochet them off in groups. It’s really a fun, and fast, technique.
I have several patterns that use this stitch. It can be the main fabric of an item, or used as a decorative edging.

Tips:
- It’s easiest to make if you put the knitting needle between your legs or under your arm to hold it.
- Use any size yarn and corresponding hook & needle that you like. Size of needle will determine how big your stitches will be.
You will need the following supplies:
Any size yarn you like, with corresponding hook & needle size.
Yarn in size #4 worsted weight, Crochet Hook in size K/6.50 mm, Knitting Needle in size 50/25mm, are shown in the video.
