4) Weave in both ends through the dc’s from Round 1 on the back side.
Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Cotton # 10 – Color Royal Blue, 5 yards
Steel Hook – Size 7; 1.50 mm
Blue Moon Beads – Metal Earring Findings
Platinum Elegance Plated Ball Hook Ear Wires
Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
Gauge: 1 1/2” earring
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
Notes: Make two for a set. Leave an 8” beginning tail to weave in later. You want the circle to have a little room when you place it inside the metal circle frame to begin Round 2. It should be snug and taut after you complete Round 2. If your circle is too big after Round 1, you can decrease the number of dc’s. When making the 2nd earring, pay close attention to your tension, my second earring is always tighter than my first.
Chain 5, sl st to the 1st ch to make a ring.
Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as a dc and 1 ch); *1 dc in ring, ch 1,* repeat 15 times; sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (16 dc, 16 ch).
Place your crocheted circle inside your metal hoop wire circle, by placing your 8″ tail through the center of the wire circle first, then line up your crochet with the wire circle frame.
Round 2: Working around the metal wire frame, Ch 1, *2 sc in each dc from Round 1;* repeat 15 times, sl st to beginning sc. (32 sc).
With your tapestry needle, weave your tail back down to the dc’s on the back side.
Weave in both threads (one at a time) a couple of times through the dc’s, pulling tight to form a smaller circle. End off. Attach the ear wire to the top.
