Timeless Boho Beanie – Free Crochet Pattern
The Timeless Boho Beanie is a fun and fashionable hat! Made with the traditional granny stitch, but with a large hook for big stitches and a quick project. Made with Red Heart Treasure yarn for a handspun look and feel, this coordinates with my Timeless Boho Collection, consisting of a Poncho and a Shawlette. The granny stitch is so on trend again and is one of my favorite stitches. Here we go…

Timeless Boho Beanie

Skill Level: Intermediate
Size: fits 19-22”
Measurements: 8 inches long by 9.5 inches wide.
Supplies:
Yarn: Red Heart Treasure: Color – Watercolors (1 skein)
Yarn weight: WW #4, 60-65 yards
Hook: 8.00 mm [US L-11]
Yarn needle
Stitch Marker (1)
Button (1) – 30 mm; 1 3/16 inches
Gauge: 4 rows and 3 dc clusters = 4 inches
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
Special Stitches & Placement:
3 dc Cluster:
3 dc in same space from previous row, between clusters.
2 dc Cluster:
2 dc in same space from previous row, between clusters.
Notes:
1. Hat is made from the brim to the crown (bottom up).
2. Hat is made in the round, do NOT join or turn.
3. Each Round is worked (counted) to the stitch marker. Move stitch marker up each round.
Pattern Starts Here
Instructions:
Using L hook-
Row 1: Fsc 45 (OR Ch 46, turn, skip 1 ch, 1 sc in each st across, sl st to beginning fsc to form a circle, place a stitch marker on first st. (45 sc).
Round 2: 1 sc in each st around to stitch marker. (45 sc).
Round 3: ch 1, 3 dc in next st, *ch 1, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *-* around. (15 (3) dc cls, 15 ch 1 sps).
Round 4: * 3 dc in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *-* around. (15 (3) dc cls).
Round 5: *2 dc in next sp, [3 dc in next sp] 2 times*, repeat *-* around. (5 (2) dc cls, 10 (3) dc cls).
Round 6: repeat Round 5.
Round 7: * 3 dc in next sp, [2 dc in next sp] 2 times*, repeat *-* around (10 (2) dc cls, 5 (3) dc cls).
Round 8: * 2 dc in next sp*, repeat *-* around. (15 (2) dc cls).
Round 9-11: repeat Round 8.
Round 12: 1 dc in each sp around, 15 times, 1 hdc in next sp, 1 sl st in next sp. (15 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sl st).
Leave a 12 inch tail, end off yarn.
Crown:
Thread tail on yarn needle and run through the top of each dc st, pull tight to form a ring. Knot and end off yarn, weave in ends.
Brim:
Round 1: sl st VERY loosely in each st around in back loop.
Round 2-3: Repeat Row 1. End off yarn, weave in ends.
Embellish: (optional)
Sew on button or applique to the brim.
End off yarn, weave in ends.
