Houndstooth Dishcloth – Free Crochet Pattern
The houndstooth stitch is so full of texture and interest. I love this stitch and the design makes for a stylish dishcloth. These are simple and fun to make! Here we go…

Supplies:
Lily Sugar’n Cream Cotton Yarn – 2 colors, 50 yards each
Hook – Size H, 5.00 mm
Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
Size: 8 1/2″ long by 9 1/2″ wide.
Gauge: 12 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations: (US terms)
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
yo- yarn over
Notes: Change color at the end of each row and crochet over the color you’re not working with (carrying yarn), every row. Each dc will be worked into a sc from previous row, and each sc will be worked into a dc from previous row. Chain 1 counts as a stitch.
Pattern starts here:
Ch 29 with Color A
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, *1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st* repeat *-* across. At last dc st, change to color B. Ch 1, turn. (14 dc, 14 sc).
Row 2: Skip first dc, *1 dc in next st, 1 sc in next st*; repeat *-* across. At last dc st, work first half of st, lay work flat, tug on carrying yarn to make it taught to even it out. Yo with carrying yarn, finish dc (color change made). Ch 1, turn. (14 dc, 14 sc).
Row 3-19: repeat Row 2, alternating colors each row.
Row 20: Ch 1, sc around all four sides. End off, weave in ends.
