Cute Pumpkin Applique – Free Crochet Pattern
Here is a cute pumpkin applique to add to your festive fall decorations. This little pumpkin can be used alone, or make several for a fun pumpkin garland. Another idea is make two and sew them together for a cute pumpkin treat bag. Here we go…

Supplies: Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver–Color Pumpkin 20 yards
Red Heart Super Saver–Color Café Latte 4 yards
Red Heart Super Saver–Color Spring Green 10 yards
Yarn weight: WW #4
Hook: US J /6.00 MM
Yarn needle
Gauge: 3 dc & 1 fpdc stitches = 1 Inch
Size is 5” across by 5 1/2“ tall
Abbreviations: ch – chain; sl st – slip stitch; hdc – half double crochet; dc – double crochet; fpdc – front post double crochet; st(s) – stitch(es)
Pumpkin Instructions: Color – Pumpkin
Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 ch and 1 dc), 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. (12 dc).
Round 2: Ch 1 (does not count as st throughout), fpdc in same st, *1 dc in next st, 1 fpdc in next st*, repeat * * around, sl st to beginning fpdc. (12 fpdc, 12 dc).
Round 3: Ch 1, fpdc in same st, *1 dc in next 2 dc, 1 fpdc in next st *, repeat * * around, sl st to beginning fpdc. (12 fpdc, 24 dc).
Round 4: Ch 1, fpdc in same st, *1 dc in next 3 dc, 1 fpdc in next st *, repeat * * around, sl st to beginning fpdc. (12 fpdc, 36 dc).
Round 5: Ch 1, sl st in each st around in back loop only. (48 sl st). End off, weave in ends.
Rind Instructions: Color – Café Latte
Row 1: Start your first hdc by counting 3 sts to the right of any fpdc. 1 hdc in next 6 sts. (6 hdc).
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as st), 5 hdc across. (6 hdc). End off, weave in ends.
Curly Q Vine Instructions: Color – Spring Green
Ch 9; *6 dc in 3rd ch from hook*; repeat ** 2 more times. (18 dc). Continue with: Ch 30; * repeat 3 more times for the other end; sl st in next st. (18 dc, 21 chs). End off, weave in ends. Twist curly Q’s into spirals. Using long chain, thread through pumpkin at corner of rind on either side.
Garland: Optional
Using any string or yarn, make a long chain. Thread pumpkins through chain, spacing them apart, hang and enjoy.

This pumpkin is adorable. I’ve tried making it and it’s fine until the last row (the slip stitch in back loop). When I do this it curls and doesn’t lay flat. Any advise will help.
