Pattern Starts Here
Using J hook- See notes
Row 1: Chain 15, turn, 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next 6 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 sc in next 2 sts, 1 sl st in last st. (13 sts).
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in each st across. (13 hdc).
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, (working this entire row in third loop of hdc) *1 dc in next 7 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 sc in next 2 sts, 1 sl st in last st. (13 sts).
Row 4-26: Repeat Rows 2-3, end with completing Row 2 (13 hdc). Drop loop, do NOT cut yarn, will pick up loop for brim later.
CROWN & SEAMING:
Using H hook-
Using the long 2 yard tail, sl st around crown opening. When back at beginning, thread yarn needle with same tail, sew from crown to brim, picking up the third back loop of hdc row and the chain st of 1st row. When at brim, end off, weave in end.
Pick up loop from end of Row 26.
Round 1: ch 1, 1 sc around evenly placing 44 total sc around brim. (44 sc).
Round 2: place stitch marker at first sc of Round 1. Do not join rounds. 1 sc in each st around, making a sc decrease in every 9th st. (40 sc).
Round 3: 1 sc in each st around, making 1 sc decrease in 4th st, *1 sc in next 8 sts, 1 sc decrease in next st*, repeat around *-*. (36 sc).
*Optional: do another round of 1 sc in each st if you need more length to the brim at this point.
Using L hook-
Round 4: 1 loose sl st in each st around. (36 sl sts).
