Celebrations!
My weekend plans are always way too big for how many hours there are in a day. How about you? My plans were to build a desk, dresser and chair for my daughter’s room, sew a dress to wear on Mother’s Day, crochet a sweater, and clean the house! Well, I did everything except sew the dress. I am 95% done with the sweater, and everything else we got done! Not bad for two days.
The dresser was the biggest challenge! It reminded me of the Lego sets my son used to build. We had several numbered bags of hardware and gizmos, an instruction book, and a bunch of lumber that didn’t look like it could possibly be the dresser in the picture. It was quite intimidating, and I quickly learned how to use a power screwdriver. My daughter and I built it together and it took us all of Friday night, and most of Saturday, but we did it. Such a great feeling!
Sunday was our Mother’s Day Celebration and to top it off, it was my Birthday too! I was spoiled by my family as the day started with a delivery from Fed-Ex with these beautiful flowers.
Then, I got to sit and crochet for a while and I really needed to sit after building the dresser! I started on my Chevron Lace sweater that I found on Ravelry a few weeks ago. I changed my mind on the color from the deep burgundy to this off-white color instead. Click here for the pattern.
Then it was off for a Mother’s Day brunch by the sea. Look at this beautiful ice sculpture of a dolphin. It was simply amazing, it was one of the highlights at the restaurant. The food was fantastic, and of course, we all ate too much. Then it was off to see the boats and walk off some of the food. We just happened to be by the yarn store too! It was a gorgeous day out.
Later, after a few more hours of crocheting and napping, while watching some soccer games on TV, we celebrated my birthday. My husband and kids had gone out earlier and got me a white cake, balloons, candy, and gifts cards to Michaels and Joann’s! My day couldn’t have been more perfect. Then some more crochet on my “birthday sweater”.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and Mother’s Day too!
Thanks for reading!
Carolyn 🙂
I like the dresser you and daughter put together. A day the two of you will always remember. A nice mothers day out for you and family. A handsome family at that. Also, a Happy Birthday. Always looking forward to your sharing.
Hi Cecile, thank you so much! It was a memorable weekend for us. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
What a busy weekend. I too celebrated both Mothers Day and my birthday that weekend. I wasn’t as productive as you, as I was in Georgia with family and friends.
The dresser looks great and I cannot wait to see finished shawl. I have saved the pattern. I have about 6 projects ahead though. :-).
Happy belated Birthday
Hi Tanya, Happy Birthday to you too! Your celebrations sound lovely too. I know how it is to have lots of projects in the wings, I want to make everything. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day 🙂
