Tunisian Crochet Honeycomb Pumpkin
The cutest Tunisian Crochet Honeycomb Pumpkin is here! This is made in the round in a continuous pattern which looks great from all angles by using a double ended crochet hook. This technique is fun to do and makes a stunning two color fabric.

I wasn’t able to get too many progress pictures of this little pumpkin. It worked up so fast, and before I knew it, it was time to cinch up the ends.
This little cutie is small and fits in the palm of your hand. It will be a nice addition to go with the Halloween decorations.
I struggled with the stem for a while and crocheted one in green with curly leaves, then tried a twig from outside, but neither one looked right. I considered using cinnamon sticks, but I didn’t have any in my cabinet, so that was a no go. But I finally decided on a brown stem in Tunisian Simple Stitch, and I really like the way it turned out.

I recommend not to put too much stuffing inside, as it will look more like a peach than a pumpkin! Originally I filled it full to the brim and packed it down and put some more in it. In my opinion, it looks better with a little room left at the top, then it’s easier to shape it and make some creases around the stem area to resemble a pumpkin. The photo below shows too much stuffing.

(B)-Return Pass: Yo, pull through 1 loop on hook (ch made), *yo, pull through 2 loops on hook*, repeat *-* until 3 loops remain on hook.
Notes:
1. Worked in the Round.
2. Use double ended crochet hook.
3. Turn work when the hook gets too full to comfortably make another stitch.
4. Right Side (RS); Wrong Side (WS).
Additional Notes:
Yarn Placement: To keep the yarn from tangling, I place Color A on the left side of my work and Color B on the right side of my work. Working with two yarns, one going forward, Color A (RS), picking up the stitches onto your hook, and Color B (WS) finishing the stitch, or Round, and taking stitches off the hook.
Turning: To turn your work, bring left hook towards you, turn until it’s on the right, work Return Pass (WS) with left hook. Leave 3 stitches on your hook. Then bring right hook towards you, turn until it’s on the left, work Forward Pass (RS) with left hook. Keep turning in this direction throughout the pattern and your yarn will not tangle up.
Pattern Repeat: begin Round 3, place a tps in previous Round tss, and a tss in next tps. Keep placing the opposite stitch in the previous Round stitch, alternating 1 tss, 1 tps, throughout.
INSTRUCTIONS
BODY
Color A
Ch 50 – form a circle with chain made, careful not to twist stitches. Take last ch off hook, pull it through back bump of 1st ch, put loop back on hook.
Round 1:
(A)-Forward pass: (RS) Color A – Insert hook in next back bump of ch, yo, pull up a loop in each back bump of ch around. See Note below. (50 loops)
Place stitch marker in 1st stitch, move up each Round.
Note: When your double ended crochet hook gets full of stitches, or approximately 12 loops on our hook, turn your work so the opposite hook is ready to work with. (See Additional Notes -Turning above).
(B)-Return pass: (WS) Color B – Add Color B – make a slip knot, place it on your hook, pull through first loop on hook, *yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook*; repeat *-* around, leave 3 sts on your hook.
Round 2:
(A)-Forward pass: (RS) Color A – Turn, * 1 tss in next st, 1 tps in next st*, repeat *-* around.

Stem:
Using Color C
Chain 10
Row 1:
(A)-Forward pass: Color A – Insert hook in next back bump of ch, yo, pull up a loop in each back bump of ch across. (10 loops)
(B)-Return Pass: Yo, pull through 1 loop on hook (ch made), *yo, pull through 2 loops on hook*, repeat *-* until 1 loop remains on hook.
Rows 2-6:
(A)-Forward pass: 1 tss in each st across. (10 tss).
(B)-Return Pass: Yo, pull through 1 loop on hook (ch made), *yo, pull through 2 loops on hook*, repeat *-* until 1 loop remains on hook.
Bind Off.
Leave a long tail. With yarn needle, whip stitch the top and the two edges together. Leave the rest of the tail to attach to the pumpkin later.
Finishing:
Using yarn needle, cinch up the bottom of body by weaving your needle through every other stitch and pulling tight to close the bottom. Knot your end securely.
Add stuffing to the body of pumpkin. Do not over stuff it, leave a little room at the top for it to pucker in. Otherwise, it will look more like a peach than a pumpkin, ask me how I know, lol.
Once stuffed, use yarn needle to cinch up the top. Repeat the above instructions as for the bottom.
Attach the stem to the center, top of the pumpkin. Use the tails to sew it to the top. Weave in ends.
