The Pineapple Poncho is made sideways, add the bottom edge of pineapples, seam the arm and finish the neckline. That’s all there is to it!
Start by selecting your width and starting chains. Measure from your shoulder to your elbow and select the Width Beginning Chains that meet the measurement that you want. Next, make as many of the pattern repeat rows to fit around you and drape down your arm to your desired length. I’ve given stitch and row counts as a guideline, but you may want to alter them to fit your body.

BLOCK
Hand wash, rinse and press water out of fabric. Lay out on blocking board. Spread out the lace and pin, leave overnight, or until thoroughly dry.
SEAMING
Fold the length of fabric in half. Using stitch markers, pin the solid sections together along the top, starting at the last 2 rows, pin together the solid sections only, 5 of them. Carefully try it on, you may want to seam more solid sections together for a closer fit around your neck. Or less seaming if you want it to hang from your shoulders.
Using yarn needle and a piece of yarn, starting at the neckline, whip stitch the solid sections together, leaving the ch stitches unworked. Place 2 whip stitches in the ends of each dc row edge, weave the yarn through one side of the chain section to get to the next solid section. Repeat this across. This will make a diamond shape opening at the seam. (see photo below). Weave in ends. Continue to Neck.
NECK
Notes:
- Work in the round, do not turn.
- Round 2 is a decrease round.
With slip knot on your hook, attach with a slip stitch to the top of the seam where you whip stitched the two ends together.
Round 1: Ch 1, *[2 sc in ch-3 sp, 1 sc in dc] 3x, 2 sc in next ch-3 sp, 3 sc across next 2 dc*, repeat *-* around, sl st to beginning sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st, *sc2tog, [1 sc in next st, sc2tog] 2x, 1 sc in next 6 sts*, repeat *-* around, end with sc2tog, [1 sc in next st, sc2tog] 2x, 1 sc in last st, sl st to beginning sc.
End off yarn, weave in ends.
End of Pattern.
