The Classic Winter Beanie is just that, a simple double crochet beanie with classic stripes around the brim. Â This hat would be great for Men & Women. Â I love working with the Red Heart Reflective Yarn, it adds another dimension to the look. Â It’s also great for safety too!

Embellish:
With the Red Heart Reflective Yarn, you will surface crochet around the brim, making 4 stripes. Do no cut the yarn; carry it up on the inside of the hat for each round.
Starting between Round 13 & 14, make a slip knot and bring the loop from the inside of your hat through to the front between any stitch. Put your hook through the loop, sl st loosely between each stitch around the hat until you come back to the 1st beginning sl st (60 sl st). Drop your hook and make it a big loop.  Pull the loop through your 1st sl st (to complete the Round) to the inside of your hat.  Next, carry it up to a stitch between Round 13 & 12. Pull the loop through to the front of your hat again, insert hook, and sl st around. Make sure your stitches are even and will be able to stretch, if you make them too tight, you won’t be able to get the hat on your head. Repeat this until you have 4 rows (or your desired number of stripes). End off and weave in ends. Â

This hat has so much potential! It would look great if made with variegated or colorful yarns too. Use your style to make it your own.
