What A Treat!
What a treat!
I got to spend my entire day on Saturday doing what I love to do… crochet, take photographs, crochet some more! This was the first day that I can remember that we didn’t have some place to be. What a treat to crochet continuously from one project to another!
I was fortunate enough to be chosen to do pattern tests for two of my favorite designers, Pattern Paradise and b.hooked crochet. That was a real treat for me and I will let you know when their patterns will be released! Both were easy and fun to make. I’ll keep you posted.
Next I worked on my Moogly CAL – Week 2 square. This one is called the Catalina Afghan Square by Julie Yeager.  It was an easy one to make and I’m happy with the way it turned out. My colors for this afghan are in the neutral family, white, off-white, beige, tan, and gray. There is a schedule as to when the next square will be released and it goes from January to November. Then in December we will put them altogether and have a finished blanket. To join in this CAL go to Moogly’s website for all the details.
Week 1 square:  I did some tweaking to my first square, as I wasn’t happy with it. I have a before and after picture. Instead of frogging it, I ended up putting a gray ring around the first row to break up the two rows of white, I like it better now. This one was a lot of work and more on the intermediate side. The name of this one is  Anticipation Mystery Afghan 12″ block by Margaret MacInnis.
Week 1 square – before, not liking it:
Week 1 square – after, much better:
After a fun filled day of uninterrupted crocheting, we celebrated my husband’s birthday by going to one of our favorite restaurants. It’s an oldie but goodie in our neighborhood, it’s a locals hole in the wall kind of place. We had the best dinner there and must go back soon! Then home for more crocheting.
Sunday, the whole family went to watch my daughter play indoor soccer. It’ the first time I’ve seen her play since her surgery in December.   Yikes!!  I was definitely a nervous Mom whenever she had the ball! It was very stressful for me to watch, but she loved it, scored 3 goals, and thank God she didn’t get hurt again. Afterwards, everyone went out for a frozen yogurt, yum!
I also made a birthday dinner at home, lemon chicken, baked potatoes and fresh broccoli. Then we celebrated (again) with a strawberry shortcake for my husband.  Did you know that husbands (mine especially) need to celebrate their birthday for the entire month?
Thanks for reading!
Have a great day,
Carolyn
