Throw Back Thursday – Treasure by the Sea!
Treasures by the Sea – crochet lace collar was a handwritten pattern that my Grandma Mary had given me to make back in the late 1980’s.  It’s so rare these days to even see handwriting or cursive letters. With the computer and email, hardly anything is even printed out. When I came across this pattern, it was like a treasure of its own. It is three pages long and was copied from The Workbasket Magazine, August 1988 issue. It was a paid subscription, so I will not post the entire pattern. I found a copy of the actual magazine that she copied it from.  Isn’t technology and the Internet amazing! I can only imagine what she would have made if she had access to the Internet years ago.
I made this lace collar and it has 48 pearls on it, which were crocheted into the work as you went. I remember wearing it a few times, but not often.  Crocheted lace collars seem to be making a comeback and they are so pretty. Here’s to another throw back Thursday, thanks for going down memory lane with me.
Thanks for reading!
Hope you enjoy your day,
Carolyn
Very lovely and I know what you mean about handwriting – I love having and holding things from my Nana – her recipes and cards 🙂 The collar is beautiful and I love your cameo!!
Thank you Rhondda! I’m glad you have treasures from your Nana too. Have a great day.
