Throw Back Thursday – Cross Stitch Pillowcases
This is a cross stitch pillowcase kit I purchased for $13.00 in 1989! I found the receipt in the bag and couldn’t believe the price. Â This is a Throw Back Thursday project that was really fun to finish.
I came across these while cleaning out a closet one day. Â The project and my embroidery thread box were neatly tucked away, just waiting there for years to be completed. Â I had already finished one whole pillowcase and started the second one, but never completed it. Â It didn’t take long to get the hang of it again, and I really enjoyed doing it. Something about the rhythm of making those little x’s! Â
I had always imagined it with a matching peach crocheted edging.  I picked the peach colors because in the 80’s, peach was my favorite color and everything had to be peach.  Here is a beautiful peach rose called Brandy that I have in my yard.  It makes large, fragrant roses and was my inspiration for the pillowcases.
I had my friends camera at the time, and had fun taking pictures and experimenting with the different camera settings with these pretty embroidery threads. Â
So I spent one weekend finishing up the cross stitching, which I really enjoyed doing, and writing up a pretty crochet edging for it at the same time. Â I will share that with you soon along with the finished pillowcases.Â
These make great gifts for special occasions but I’m keeping these for me though.  They’ve been in the making for a really long, long time!  Thanks for going down memory lane with me.
Have a great day!
