Are you new to crochet and want to make something that is simple to remember and will dazzle your friends and family? Or are you a seasoned crocheter and just want a “no thinking” project to do while you watch TV? This is great for every skill level, and the yarn is plushy, squishy, and just super soft! It really makes the project look more difficult, and it works up really fast.
Simple Vintage Pillow:
Skill Level: Easy
Size: approximately 16 inches wide by 16 inches long
Yarn Information:
Bernat Blanket-
A super cozy, super bulky chenille-style yarn and is available in a range of stylish shades to compliment your home decor.
- Economical big ball size
- Content: 100% polyester
- Ball Size: 300g / 10.5 oz, 201 meters / 220 yards
- Gauge: 6 – Super Bulky
- Care: Machine Wash in Cool Water, Delicate Setting, Tumble Dry, Low Heat, Delicate Cycle
Red Heart Fur-
- Content: 100% polyester
- Ball Size: 100g / 3.5 oz, 10 meters / 11 yards
- Gauge 7 – Jumbo
- Care: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, tumble dry low, do not bleach, do not iron
Supplies:
Yarn: Yarnspirations – Bernat Blanket – Color Vintage White (1 skein) or 220 yards
Red Heart Fur – Color Polar (1 skein) or 11 yards
Hook: 11.5 mm [US P]
Pillow Form – Quantity (1) size – 16 inches by 16 inches square.
Yarn Needle, or smaller crochet hook, for weaving in the ends
Gauge/Size: 2 V-sts x 3 rows in pattern = 4 inches
Abbreviations: In US Terminology
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
Special Stitches
Double Crochet Two Together: dc2tog –Â [yo, insert hook in next st or sp, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops] 2 times, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook. (1 dc2tog st completed). See video tutorial HERE.
V-Stitch: V-st – [dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog], in same st or sp. (1 V-st completed).
Notes:
- Written In US terminology.
- Chain 3 at beginning of row counts as a stitch.
- Worked in rows, back and forth.
- Stitch count at the end of each row indicated inside ( ).
- Repeat Row is highlighted in Red to easily find it.
- Each V-st is worked in the Ch 1 sp of the previous row V-st.
- Fur border is optional, and is worked in the Round, around entire pillow.

Instructions:
Multiple 3 + 5
Ch 26 (leave a long tail).
Row 1: Skip 4 sts, *1 V-st in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat across ending with 1 dc in last st. (7 V-sts, 2 dc).
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, *1 V-st in next ch 1 sp* repeat across ending with 1 dc in top of turning ch 3. (7 V-sts, 2 dc).
Rows 3-12: Repeat Row 2.
Make 2 panels.
Seaming:
Place both panels together and line up stitches. Using long tails, whip stitch 3 sides together. Insert pillow form, whip stitch final side to enclose. End off, weave in ends.
Border: (optional)
Using Fur yarn attach to pillow edge along seam with a sl st.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc loosely and evenly around all four pillow edges, ending with a sl st to beginning sc. End off yarn, weave in all ends.
