Shop Till You Drop – Week in Review #3
Hi friends,
We had the best weekend, I hope you did too!  Last Thursday-Sunday was the LA Yarn Crawl event and it was so much fun! We only went to a couple of yarn shops, not all of them on the list. We spent hours at each one, so there was no way we could drive to them all.  First we visited the Yarnover Truck, have you heard of it? It’s a mobile yarn store, and they drive from one event to another selling yarn and notions out of a truck, pretty neat!
Next we ventured to a beautiful yarn store called Alamitos Bay Yarn Company near the ocean, and purchased some great organic yarn by Swan Island, it’s called Aubergine (plum) for me and Graphite (dark grey) for my daughter. She wants to learn how to knit and make herself a hat that we saw at one of the yarn stores.  I’m so excited for her to learn to knit!
The next day we ventured to a boutique to visit my friend Stacey of Bags by Stacey to see all the new goodies she has made. I bought a jewelry roll that she designed and I love the colors! It is a turquoise floral with coral accents. I also got a cute felted bunny from Linda, she makes the cutest aprons and dishcloths too!
Next stop another yarn store called Stitches In Time. We spent over 2 hours here and didn’t want to leave. I purchased more yummy yarn here by Plymouth Yarn and they made the hanks into yarn cakes! It was so cool. I also learned how to make hair pin lace too! Candy was so nice to demonstrate how to make it with the loom and I got hands on, one-on-one instructions! I’ve had the loom at home for about a year and just never sat down to figure it out. It is fun to do and the results are incredibly beautiful!! I can’t wait to experiment more with it.
Well, with all this fancy yarn purchased I plan to make two of the sweaters I posted on my Facebook page last week. First I am going to make the Chevron Lace Cardigan by Milobo in the sage colored cotton yarn. I’m also planning to make LUL’s Flower Power Vest by Lene Unmack Larsen, this one can be made with stash yarns and I just might use some of the plum and grey yarns too. I can’t wait to get started on all these new projects. I wish I had more time to crochet!
Have a great week!
Thanks for reading!
Carolyn
It looks like so much fun!!
It really was! Best part is my daughter is inspired to learn how to knit! I’m so happy, I really want her to have a craft she loves as much as I love crocheting! Maybe it’ll be knitting, fingers crossed!
