Instructions
Color A – Ch 5, join with a sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first st throughout), 9 hdc in ring, sl st to top of beginning ch 2. (10 hdc).
Round 2: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to top of beginning ch 2. (20 hdc).
Round 3: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st*, repeat *-* around, ending with sl st to top of beginning ch 2. (30 hdc). Do not cut yarn.
Circle measures approximately 2 ½ inches after Round 3.
Edging
Note: Using two Colors A and B for edging, untwist the yarn every couple of rows to keep it separated and easier to work with. The current Color on hook is worked in front of the dropped Color.
Row 4: Color A (White) Ch 5, drop loop off hook. Add Color B (Red) in next st with sl st, Ch 5, drop loop off hook, push Ch to back, *Color A (White): pick up loop onto hook, sl st in next st, ch 5, drop loop off hook. Color B (Red): pick up loop onto hook, sl st in next st, ch 5, drop loop off hook*, Repeat *-* around to last 2 loops. (30 ch 5 loops – 15 of each Color).
To End last 2 loops of circle:
Color A – sl st in last open stitch of Round, next to beginning Color A st.
Color B – sl st into base of the first ch 5 st of Color B.
Last white loop should be worked into the last open stitch (or 30th st), next to the beginning White st. The last red loop will be worked into the base of the first Red st. You should have 15 loops of each color that look uniform all the way around.
End off, weave in ends.
