The Patriotic Pocket Scarf is so pretty and is a great way to show your patriotic spirit. It has pockets on the ends which is nice to carry your phone or light weight items if you don’t want to bring your purse, and keep your hands warm too.

Patriotic Pocket Scarf
Skill level: Intermediate
Size: Adult
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, 1 skein each
Color A: Cherry Red E300-319
Color B: White E300-311
Color C: Soft Navy E300-387
Supplies: Yarn needle
Hook: 5.0 mm [US H]; 6.00 mm [US J]
Gauge: 13 sts and 9 rows = 4 inches in hdc
Stitch Abbreviations – US terms:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
trbl – treble crochet
Special Stitches:
csc – Center Single Crochet (or Waistcoat Stitch) – Look for and insert hook under the horizontal bar between the two legs (upside V) of the previous row. Using a larger hook for this section, keep sts at a looser tension. (This stitch makes a dense, thick fabric and it may be hard to get your hook in). Yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, go through both loops on hook.
Measurement: 6.5″ wide by 60″ long (including pockets)
Notes: Complete the striped scarf first, working in back loop only starting at Row 2. Next, add Color C on the ends to make pockets. Optional is the Star applique and is sewn on last. The length of the scarf is not made to wrap around your neck, if you want it longer, add more chains to the 151 at the beginning of the pattern to measure how long you would like it. The pockets (folded and sewn) measure 6.5″ on both ends, so 13 inches in length combined. Keep that in mind when extending the scarf body.
