My Purple Poncho – Throw Back Thursday
My purple poncho, the gift that gave me the crocheting bug, oh so many years ago! Do you ever wonder how people name their businesses? I often do, so I thought I would share with you how I came up with my name, The Purple Poncho.
I was seven years old when my Grandma Mary made me this purple poncho for Christmas. She also made a red one for my sister. I have several photos of me wearing this at Christmas when she gave it to me, over my clothes and later my PJ’s, and from the photos, looks like the entire time I was awake and probably wore it to bed too. I loved to watch my Grandma crochet, she did such beautiful work. She was such an inspiration to me, she was always making something crafty. I must have gotten my crafty bug from her, I love to make things too.
I grew up enjoying lots of crafts, such as macramé, knitting, beading, weaving, embroidery, sewing and of course, crocheting. I’ve recently tried my hand at tatting, which I love, and also paper crafts with rubber stamping.
I do not have my original poncho, but I made a replica of it a few years ago. I thought it would be fun to hang it up at boutiques as part of my “logo”. I wonder what she would think of my name? I hope she would like it.
Here’s to another throw back Thursday, thanks for going down memory lane with me.
Thanks for reading!
Hope you enjoy your day 🙂
