It’s time for Flowers of the Month. Every Monday I share a flower picture on my Facebook and Instagram page, and featured this month are Hydrangeas, Spider Mums, a Gerber Daisy and some Poppies. Here is the story behind these beauties, hope you enjoy…

My latest flower find is the Matilija Poppy, also known as “fried egg plant”. It has big white crepe papery flowers with bright golden yellow centers. The flower is quite large and despite its delicate appearance, it is quite hardy. It is a fast growing plant and gets about five feet tall. They make beautiful cut flowers and last a long time.
I like the way they look in a vase. They have very nice pointed leaves and are a nice shade of olive green. I added some dried pink flowers with them for some contrast and to balance out the arrangement.
Spider Mums in one of my favorite colors of green. I think these are amazing flowers. My daughter gave these to me for Mother’s Day. These flowers have a lot of detail to them, but you have to look closely.
Another flower favorite is the Gerber Daisy! I bought these recently and planted them in my yard. I have several colors now, yellow, white and red, coming your way in the near future, but this orange one was the first to bloom! I like planting these because they are hardy and come back every year.
Last, but not least, is this pretty pink Hydrangea flower. I have trouble growing these so I like to admire them at the stores. I love this soft shade of pink and how each stem has a ton of tiny flowers on it to make one big giant flower.
That’s all for the June Flowers of the Month. Looking forward to sharing with you what flowers I find next time. Here is a pretty succulent from last month. Click Here to read my May Flowers of the Month, and see all the featured flower finds that month!
