Festive Bottle Cozy
Skill level: Easy
Size: One size fits most
Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Holidays – color Red Rouge, 80-90 yards or any worsted weight yarn.
Notions: Yarn needle
Hook: 5.00 mm [US H-8]
Gauge: not critical to this design. 6 Rows & 7 sc = 2 inches
Stitch Abbreviations in US terms:
beg – beginning
blo – back loop only
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Note: Pattern is worked from the bottom up. Do not turn work unless stated otherwise. Ch 3 at beg of a row counts as 1 dc. Ch 4 at beg of a row counts as 1 dc, and 1 ch. Ch 1 at beg of a row does not count as a st. Place your bottle inside the cozy for sizing, add more rows of mesh (Row 10) if needed. Cozy should fit snug.
Pattern starts here:
Ch 6, sl st to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 1, 10 sc in ring. (10 sc).
Row 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st; 2 dc in each st around, end with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch. (20 dc).
Row 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st; *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*; repeat *-* around, end with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3. (30 dc).
Row 4: (Note: pick up the back loop and the horizontal loop just under the back loop on this row only) Ch 1, 1 sc in same st blo, *1 sc in next st blo*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to beg sc. (30 sc).
Row 5: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, *1 sc in next st*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to beg sc. (30 sc).
Row 6-8: Repeat Row 5.
Row 9: Ch 4, skip 1 st, *1 dc in next st, ch 1; sk 1 st*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4. (15 ch 1 sps).
Row 10: Sl st into ch 1 sp; ch 4, *1 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4. (15 ch 1 sps).
Row 11-17: Repeat Row 10.
Row 18: Ch 1,*2 sc in ch 1 sp*, repeat *-* around, end with sl st to beg sc. (30 sc).
Handle:
Row 19: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 sts. (6 dc).
Row 20-30: Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in next 5 sts. (6 dc).
End off yarn, leave a long tail.
Finishing:
Line up the end of handle to the opposite side of the bag, with approximately the same number of sts on each side of the handle. Thread yarn needle, whip stitch Row 30 to Row 18. Weave in ends.
Tie:
Chain 65, end off yarn, weave in ends. Weave one end of the tie between the dc sts in Row 17 around the bag. Put bottle inside, tie in a bow.
Embellish (optional):
