How To Crochet The Love Knot
In this tutorial, I will show you how to crochet the Love Knot Stitch, also known as the Solomon’s Knot. Once completed, it makes a very delicate and lacy fabric. It can be made in any yarn and hook size. If you can make a chain and a single crochet, you can do this! It’s just knowing where to place your hook and I’ll show you how in the crochet tutorial and video. I hope you give it a try.

Variations:
You can make this stitch in any length, anywhere from 1/2 inch to 2 inches [1.25 cm – 5 cm] in height or more. The taller the stitch the lacier it will be. You can also use thread or worsted weight yarn and both will make a very pretty fabric. It can be made in a square, rectangle, or triangle. Examples are scarves, garments and shawls in these different shapes. You can start top down or bottom up, or side to side, there are lots of variations and options. This also makes a very pretty edging to finish your other projects to add a feminine touch as a border.
Tip:
The key to making your project look professional is keeping each stitch the same length (or height). This is the trickiest part of making this stitch. If you find your love knots getting too long, or bigger as you go along, or perhaps smaller or too tight, you may want to “frog” (take out) some rows and remake them to keep a consistent tension and look.
Making the Love Knot stitch:
If you can make a chain and a single crochet, then you can do this. It’s just knowing where to place your hook, just like any other crochet stitch. When you’re working this stitch, you’re working with an extended amount of yarn, and placing your single crochet in the “side” of the extended yarn. Another way to visualize this is make a long chain, and work the single crochet in the back bar of the long chain. This is where it can get confusing, but broken down, you can see where to place your work. This tutorial is on how to make the actual stitch.
