It’s time for Flowers of the Month. Every Monday I share a flower picture on my Facebook and Instagram page, and featured this month are several tropical flowers that we found while on vacation in Hawaii. Here is the story behind these beauties, hope you enjoy…

While on vacation in Hawaii recently, it was so nice to enjoy all the tropical flowers they have. I especially enjoy the Plumeria flowers, they smell so Sweet! This was a huge tree that had a ton of them blooming on it. They drop on the ground and we pick up the fresh ones and enjoy the fragrance and put them in our hair. I’ve since bought a plant for my yard and have been waiting for it to bloom, very impatiently I might add.
This strange, pointy looking flower is called a Heliconia. Never seen them before or heard of them, but they are pretty! The colors are vivid in the petals and the leaves. My son and I went for a walk along the beach and ended up at a fancy resort. We walked around there and of course, I was taking pictures like mad. Everything in Hawaii is beautiful. I had a wonderful time with him and he was very patient while I took photos.
A hot pink Hibiscus! You can’t be in Hawaii and not see Hibiscus flowers everywhere. I do love them and they come in so many colors, all bright and pretty. On our last day we had some time before our flight, so we hung out at a beautiful pool before we left for the airport. These plants were all around in the landscape. I sat in a rocking chair, crocheted, and watched the Koi fish in the pond.
This big, bold Bromelaid was spotted in an outdoor mall. They had beautiful landscape right down the center of the mall. My daughter and I had gone exploring and shopping. We made fresh flower lei’s and ate pineapple ice cream, bought souvenirs, and had such a good time.
Finally, another Hibiscus flower, a white one this time, with an amazing colored stamen. If you look closely in the center there is a tiny little ant in there. I didn’t notice it until I saw the pictures on my computer. Just adds to the beauty. We had walked to get lunch on our last day there, and I kept stopping to take pictures of all the flowers along the way. Can’t wait to go back someday.
